UVB is an essential wavelength naturally found in sunlight, and is beneficial for most — if not all — reptiles. UVB is critical to helping your pet’s bones stay healthy and strong, and plays a role in a variety of other essential functions.
The Zoo Med T8 ReptiSun 5.0 UVB is a T8 linear fluorescent bulb that is made by experts in Germany. It produces a gentle amount of UVB for low-UVB reptiles housed in shallower enclosures.
Instructions for Use:
Install the 36″ Zoo Med T8 ReptiSun 5.0 UVB in a 36″ Zoo Med ReptiSun T8 Terrarium Hood and place over the basking area. This bulb tends to perform best with low-UVB reptiles in terrestrial (wide) terrariums around 6′ long and 18″ tall or less.
Replace the Zoo Med T8 ReptiSun 5.0 UVB every 6 months to maintain reliable UVB output. For best results, use with a Zoo Med Digital Digital UV Index Radiometer or Solarmeter 6.5.

3″ below lamp — UVI 2.6 – 3.5+
4″ below lamp — UVI 2.6 – 3.5+

Different reptiles have different UVB requirements. Use the Arcadia UV Index Lighting Guide to determine what UVI it needs in its basking area.
Distance is measured from the tip of the bulb to the basking area or reptile. UVI estimations are approximate. Note that UVI is reduced by 30-40% when the UVB bulb is placed over mesh screen.
