As small animals, reptiles get stressed when they don’t have a place to hide out of sight. Chronic stress has negative effects on reptiles, leading to increased susceptibility to illness, decreased appetite, lethargy, and more defensive behavior. This is especially important for nocturnal and crepuscular reptiles that prefer to hide during the majority of the day.
The Exo Terra Canopy Cave is a hideout that arboreal reptiles can use without having to descend to the ground, which is where they instinctively feel vulnerable. Fill the cave with dampened sphagnum moss to create a soft, humid hideout or incubation chamber!
The Exo Terra Canopy Cave uses a clip system to mount the hide to the wall of the enclosure in a way that allows for easy removal and replacement for routine cleaning. Although the Canopy Cave is designed to allow the owner to see into the cave, a static-cling “curtain” is included to help preserve your reptile’s sense of privacy.
Instructions for Use:
- Clean the surface of the terrarium glass.
- With the protective backing still intact, place the self-adhesive clip to determine its final position.
- Mark the position with a wax pencil or other marker.
- Remove the protective backing and carefully fit the self-adhesive clip within the marked area.
- Make sure the tape is pressed evenly against the terrarium glass and that no air bubbles are showing.
- Press the self-adhesive part firmly against the glass panel for at least 30 seconds
- Wait a few moments and make sure the tape is attached firmly to the terrarium before suspending the Canopy Cave.
